TAMPA, Fla. (Oct. 14) – Residents in TBARTA’s five-county district are now invited to take part in an interactive survey that will help the transit authority plan for the coming decade. People in Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco and Pinellas counties can rate short and long-term transit priorities, with results incorporated into TBARTA’s Regional Transit Development Plan (RTDP), called Envision 2030.
“This survey is the next step in Envision 2030’s public involvement plan,” said David Green, TBARTA’s Executive Director. “A questionnaire distributed earlier this year provided a foundation for this survey in which we ask more specific questions. These results will help us better understand what our residents want, allowing us to prioritize future transit projects.”
The survey is available in both English and Spanish on the Envision2030 page of TBARTA’s website. Among the questions: What matters to you most in the planning of future regional transit? What short and long-term transit options best meet your needs? How much do you value premium transit and new transit technologies?
In 2017, the Florida Legislature established TBARTA, the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transit Authority, as a regional transit facilitator, with the task of developing a 10-year transit strategy. Envision 2030 will culminate with a Regional Transit Development Plan (RTDP) covering 2021-2030 and is to be delivered to the Florida Department of Transportation by September 1, 2020.
“Tampa Bay continues to be one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country and regional transit is increasingly needed by our residents, workers, and visitors,” Green said. “Envision 2030 is the process through which we will identify and plan for world-class transit that is operationally, financially, and environmentally feasible.”
The survey will remain open through the end of the year. As a bonus, those who take the survey will also be able to enter a giveaway for tickets to a Tampa Bay Lightning game in 2020 at Amalie Arena. More information on the survey and ticket giveaway can be found at TBARTA.com.
