FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TAMPA, Fla. (January 25) – On Friday January 25, 2019, the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transit Authority (TBARTA) Board has approved moving forward with Tindale Oliver as the primary consultant to produce the Regional Transit Development Plan (RTDP) – a major milestone.
“We are providing regional accountability” said David Green, TBARTA Executive Director. “The intent of the RTDP is to complement the existing local transit planning process, with an augmented regional focus and strategic outline for investment in and the operation of regional transit projects in Tampa Bay.”
The Florida Legislature restructured TBARTA from Transportation to Transit Authority in July of 2017 and required it to develop a Regional Transit Development Plan (RTDP) covering Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Hillsborough, and Manatee Counties. The RTDP is intended to prioritize regional transit projects and provide a 10-year plan for transit projects in the five-county region.
Since 1998, Tindale Oliver has completed more than 70 TDPs for clients throughout Florida and the US. In addition, the firm recently led the update to the Guidance for Producing a Transit Development Plan manual for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
