TAMPA, Fla. –   The Tampa Bay Area Regional Transit Authority not only promotes commuter benefits, but also provides them for its own employees. Once again, TBARTA has been honored as one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters, joining a growing number of Tampa Bay businesses on the 2021 list.

“TBARTA is one of the top employers in the nation offering high level commuter benefits to their employees,” said Julie Bond, Program Manager, Best Workplaces for Commuters. “The companies on this list understand the importance and impact commuter benefits have on their employees and the value they bring to the environment.”

The honor is only awarded to a select group of workplaces in the United States that have achieved the Best Workplaces for Commuters National Standard of Excellence by providing an array of commuter benefits, resulting in at least 14 percent of their employee base not driving alone to work within a 12-month period. TBARTA offers commuter benefits including:

  • Teleworking program
  • Carpool and Vanpool program
  • Emergency Ride Home program

“We’re not only proud to be on the list, but happy to see a growing number of Tampa Bay employers joining us,” said Ken Boden, Manager of TBARTA’s Commute Tampa Bay, which serves as FDOT District 7’s transit demand management provider of commuter assistance programs. “With this year’s pandemic, many employers quickly shifted to telework, a commute alternative we have long promoted. Commute Tampa Bay was not only able to help employers with that transition last year, but we also remain committed and available to help others initiate similar programs.”

A complete list of 2021 Tampa Bay honorees can be found on TBARTA’s Best Workplaces for Commuters webpage, along with information on TBARTA services, the benefits that are available, and how Commute Tampa Bay can help organizations start their own commute alternative programs, through vanpool, carpool, biking, and more.  As Bond says, the benefits are great.

“Excellent commuter benefit programs reward these companies not just with a national designation, but buoys workplace productivity, customer loyalty and brand recognition in an increasingly competitive marketplace,” Bond said.
